My class is full of creative, energetic, and hard-working students. They love reading books, cracking jokes, coloring pictures, making art projects and learning new things. They are very curious and are constantly asking questions.
As a special education teacher, most of my students are below grade level and are working hard to catch up to their peers.
Our Title I school has more than 80% of our population receiving free or reduced-price lunches. More than half of our students are English language learners. It's important to give these students a quality education early, to instill a love of learning while they are still young.
School should be a place where students feel safe and are able to gain skills and knowledge that will help them be successful in future careers. I strive to give them as many opportunities to learn these things as I can.
My Project
Daily in our classroom students use alphabet tiles to help them build and read new words as we practice and build phonics skills. Currently, students have bene struggling to find the right alphabet tiles because there is not a great way to organize them. They are all mixed together in a bag. When students need to find a letter, they have to dig through the bag to find the correct ones.
These organizers will help teach students organization while allowing us to spend more instructional time learning, not digging around in bags to find the correct letters.
Thank you for helping me teach my students the importance of keeping materials organized and ready to go. This is a skill they will benefit from throughout their lives and is important to start early!
