Planes, Trains, and Automobiles (PreK/K Special Education)
My students need wooden trains (total of 48 train engines and cars), a set of 24 wooden vehicles, a plane set, and 10 storage bins with lids for use in our block center.

My Students
We have train tracks that lead to nowhere! There are only two train cars and no engines for our train table. My early childhood special education students need enough trains to share during center time. We would also love cars and a plane set for the block center with storage containers to organize.
My early childhood special education students have been identified as having developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, speech impairments, autism, orthopedic impairments, and/or other special needs.
A few are additionally English Language Learners. It is my pleasure to serve them all! They attend a public elementary school in a high-poverty neighborhood and range in age from two-six years old (preschool and kindergarten-aged). Many live in substandard conditions, and due to crime in the neighborhood, it is not safe to play outside. My students are so eager to learn and are excited about coming to school. I want to continue building on their enthusiasm for learning!
My Project
With the number of trains requested, there will be enough for everyone to have their own engine and choice of rail cars during small group or center time. Right now, it's frustrating and nearly impossible for a small group of kids to play at the train table with only two cars to share. They all want to play! During block play time, their imaginations run wild as they set up the train tracks or drive cars along our block rug that has streets and a small town printed on it. An airplane set would also expand their opportunities to learn about different forms of transportation.
This kind of play fosters opportunities for young children to improve their social skills (turn-taking, sharing, following rules), improve their fine motor skills, and extend their language and vocabulary skills.
Your support to this project will expand opportunities for students to work on IEP goals and objectives, and is appreciated very much!
