Help me give my students hands-on math and science activities. The Easy View Early Science Specimens will help my students learn about the different parts of plants, animals, and insects.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every day these kindergarten students start with eating breakfast in the classroom. We then have our math lesson. How fun is it to explore math through a worksheet? My students need hands-on activities to enhance their number sense. In the afternoon, we have science. I would like to enhance my students' science experiences through hands-on learning activities.
This school is a Title I school.
Many students come from disadvantaged homes. The classroom consists of multinational and multilingual students. They love to learn and get very excited when they discover new things.
My Project
Part of the Kindergarten Science Core Standards is to understand and explore plants, animals, and insects. We need hands-on manipulatives for the students to experience what they look like and how they grow. The specimen viewers will allow my students to see different insects and animals that they would not be able to see while participating in regular classroom activities. We also learn about the different life cycles of animals. The Sequencing Kit and Science Viewer will allow the students to view a variety of life cycles.
Another part of the Kindergarten Math Core Standards are addition and subtraction.
I would like the students to have more hands-on games for them to experience addition and subtraction. The different counting games will help support their number sense.
