My Students

The section of Philadelphia I teach in is a very low-economic area with minimal family involvement and many have limited resources. However, they make up for that with their personalities and eagerness.

Many of my students come into school without previous education and minimal basic skills but are eager and willing to work hard to learn all they can.

In order for my students to succeed and thrive, we need to have a safe and inviting environment. In order to do this we need snacks for energy, centers that are exciting and new, basic everyday materials that are readily available for the classroom and for home.

My Project

First, the printer in the classroom will allow me to print additional worksheets for students, new centers and it will allow me to print books in color for them to utilize during SSR and guided reading .

The most exciting part of having a printer in my classroom will allow me to provide the opportunity to the students to do their own research and encourage them print out pictures for posters/projects.

Also, this year I had a student ask me to look something up for them and print out to show their parents and without a printer I couldn't do it.

Having the computer, that is also a tablet will allow students to be able learn about both technologies and begin to learn how to use both. They will be able to touch the screen and learn how to use keyboard.
