Pixel This

Help me give my students the tools to create prints of their pixel art using Lego boards & dots, acrylic paint, and pressing tools.

My Project

When students create art digitally, they are often unable to hold physical products of the work they make. They work so hard to create beautiful masterpieces, but do not have anything physical to show for it, due to lack of resources at our school.

This project will incorporate both digital and visual art to show students how involved and creative the art process can be, and will give them tangible ways to turn their digital art into physical prints.

Interacting with physical 3D prints provides a tactile experience that enhances learning. Students can touch, hold, and examine their creations in real life.

This new and exciting project will begin with designing art on pixel art software. Afterwards, students will replicate the pixel art using Lego boards and Lego dots. Students will then use the brushes and paint to paint over their Lego boards, and finish by placing paper over the boards and using the presses to transfer the paint from the Lego boards to the paper. The finished product will be a beautiful physical print of their original artwork that began as a 2D digital piece.
