Help me give my students art and collage material so they can learn the fundamentals of art: colors, lines, shapes, forms, and textures through drawing, making collages, fashioning three-dimensional objects out of clay and dough.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a Pre-K classroom that serves students from ages 3 to 5 years old. My students are a group of diverse individuals that come from different cultural backgrounds, with individual physical and academic needs. In our classroom, my students receive services from an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher, an Occupational Therapist, Speech/Language Therapists, and a Physical Therapist to help them with their individual needs so they can be successful now and throughout life. Everyday, we strive to meet their individualized goals and emotional needs. In our classroom, our students enjoy learning in large/small groups using hands on material. Many of our students are English language learners and they live in an area of extreme poverty in Los Angeles where all students qualify for the free-lunch program at our Title I school.
My Project
My students love art and I try to integrate it into day our Special Needs Preschool class daily. I have found that when our students have a variety of art supplies their creativity shines through. The items in this project will allow my students to explore Visual Art. Picasso was an extraordinary visual artist and his collages are breathtaking. I am asking for arts and crafts supplies including feathers, clay, gemstones, buttons and confetti glue. Some of the requested items will also be used to enhance our Creative Curriculum lessons, hand-eye coordination and just plain old fun. For example, the requested Moody Monsters will be used to create and explore monsters with different emotions which ties into their social emotional health. The play dough and clay will allow my children to roll and mold which builds the small muscles in their fingers. There are so many amazing options to use these materials and I look forward to my students exploring every possibility.
Hands on learning with colorful, textured material is essential for children.
Art is one of my favorite areas to teach, to observe, to admire as my students gain confidence in themselves and their abilities which is a precursor to being successful now and in life.
