Pillows Of Love

My students need technology supplies (printer, ink) to create personalized photo pillows (with fiberfill and glue) for children who lost their homes and belongings due to Hurricane Sandy.

My Students

Our computer lab has been converted into a classroom due to the overcrowding in our school building. Technology is on the Mooove using computer carts or as I call them COWS.(Computers On Wheels) My project will teach students technology skills as well as giving something back to the community.

Our part of New York City has recently been hit with a devastating hurricane.

Luckily the students in our school have not been dramatically impacted, however students in the neighboring community have lost everything. Their houses have been destroyed along with all their possessions. It is for these children that we will be making our projects for, with the generous donations that we receive from Donors Choose.

My Project

The funding for this project will be used to purchase the necessary materials needed to create photo pillows. We are asking for a printer, photo fabric and pillow stuffing. This project will empower two different groups of students in two different ways. The students in my class will be learning valuable technology and photography skills needed to function in our modern technological world. They will also receive the experience of reaching out and helping those who are less fortunate than they are. The students who are receiving the pillows have lost all their possessions. We hope that these pillows will give them a sense of happiness and security.

Someone once said that happiness is a warm pillow!

We are hoping that our "Pillows of Love" will bring warmth and happiness to children who's lives have been severely devastated by Hurricane Sandy.
