Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am at a Title I elementary school that has a variety of students from different backgrounds. Some tell me that they love to draw or paint, but many students do not have access to supplies that allow them to.
I want them to be prepared for any career or role that they have in their future - but to do that, I need to expose them to art experiences that resemble or are steps to these done professionally.
Art skills are useful in a variety of situations, such as problem solving and critical thinking things.
My Project
My students will be able to photograph their artwork to keep for years to come, and learn how to photograph their own artwork for their portfolio, like a professional artist. This is good practice for almost anything that my students may need to learn how to do in the future, such as photography. Regardless, I have many artists in my classroom who I want for them to believe in themselves and their art abilities. This will help me to create digital portfolios for my students to have. My students will be able to bring home their artwork sooner as I will be able to grade their digital portfolio instead as well.
