My Project
Last year, DonorsChoose patrons helped my students by supporting my classroom campaign for digital cameras. With the generosity of these patrons, I was able to purchase 12 Canon digital cameras and additional memory cards. The students created wonderful images, experimenting with the medium of photography. As a result, we were able to have a digital showcase of our talented students' work. This spring I would like to take this experience further with my middle school students by showcasing their work as digital prints.
My students from PS 17 in Jersey City, New Jersey, are creative, talented, and already experimenting with photo software and programs.
They will use the printer to bring their photography projects to fruition.
Photography is a medium that is necessary for my students to grow as artists. Exploring the depths of photography through creative software and mixed media using color and black and white prints will only enhance the curriculum we are using.
Having printers in our classroom would allow the students to create two-dimensional artwork that we can proudly display in our final showcase of student work.
Many of my middle school students are already creating portfolios to present with their High School applications to competitive Visual Art Programs in our district. Having the necessary tools for printing their images in our classroom will be very beneficial as they journey through the portfolio process.
