This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is one of the largest Title 1 public schools in New York City located in Elmhurst, Queens. My Kindergarten class is comprised of general and special education students. They are all currently learning at home and need lots of books to read!
I hope to help my Kindergarten students build the passion of remote learning by providing them with exciting new journals to keep them engaged in writing!
The time that I have with my Kindergarten students is very precious since it is where most of their learning takes place.
My Project
Kindergarten is an important year for young students to explore their writing through imagination, self exploration, and personal experiences around them. My students love to write stories every single day!
With these new writing composition books, my students will be able organize their thoughts and express themselves through journal writing.
They will be also use these journals to jot down ideas and respond to independent reading at home and read alouds during instruction time. We will use the tub of alphabet letters to create new words they can use in their writing! Journal writing will also help my Kindergarten students share and discuss their writing with their peers and build up their self-confidence!
