Picture This! Help 5th Graders Create Picture Books!

Help me give my students pencils, crayons, colored pencils, highlighters, Post-it notes, chart paper, and copy paper to create and publish their own picture book.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Parker's classroom raised $846

This project is fully funded

My Students

Our class has 30 eager minds who are imaginative and ready to create stories.

Our school is located in the suburbs of Salt Lake City, Utah, and has 48% of students receiving free or reduced-rate lunches.

Roughly, 48% percent of the school population rents housing or lives with relatives and are first-generation Americans. Our school does not qualify for Title I funding but is in the lower 80% percentile in Granite School District located in Salt Lake County.

My Project

Help us become published authors! 5th graders will use the materials, paper, pencils, highlighters, folders, colored pencils, sticky notes, etc. to create their own published picture book based on a fairy tale to share with Kindergarten buddies. Students will put their narrative writing skills to create a book using all the story elements they have studied over the year. 5th graders need the practice of writing and sharing their work with others to promote confidence in writing and speaking. These skills will help them be college and career-ready as they apply their knowledge in creating a published picture book.
