My Project

Our Title I school owns 3 basic digital cameras to share among 34 students in the Journalism/ Yearbook class. This limits the amount of learning opportunities and school events they can cover at a time which, in turn, causes those precious moments to slip away.

Adding to the availability of more advanced photography equipment, we will be empowering student learning, encouraging them to not only expand the horizon, but to capture it with their own hands.

Yes, the majority of students have been using their cell phones to take pictures. Yes, those pictures have been grainy, out of focus, and off center (especially the sports photos).

With a device designed specifically for photography, we are giving the students of low-income families an opportunity to level the playing field of success and expand their future career options.
