My Students

I have 80 students who are at risk and seem to be more engaged when working with technology and the use of multiple intelligences. This is why taking pictures and listening to famous poets will inspire them to create poems of their own.

Many of my 7th grade students are below grade level and have tuned out to traditional methods of teaching.

Most come from single parent homes and need different ways of expressing themselves. In the past, when I have introduced more contemporary ways of teaching, my students responded readily.

My Project

My students need digital cameras and a listening center to enrich their learning in an alternative manner. Many of my students do not have various technological devices, such as digital cameras and access to portable listening devices, to assist in their learning. By photographing themselves and their community, they will be able to look differently at the world they live in. Listening to several famous poets at the listening station will expose them to great literature and expand their minds. This will tap into their creativity and help them create original poems.

Giving my students an opportunity to learn in a more creative way will help them become productive members of society.

As they write, they may be inspired to become published poets.
