My Students

This upcoming year, I will teach 1st grade, and my students are diverse. Many are from low economic homes. Many children are below grade level. These children come to school every day with very diverse needs. As their teacher and caregiver, it is my goal to ensure that my students are the most successful that they can be. In my room, we constantly look towards to future by considering ourselves the Penn State Class of 2035. Every little bit that you fund, a child gets closer to that goal.

My Project

Teaching students to love reading early on is so important. All first graders can find a book that they love and connect with.

Picture books are an easy and exciting way to help students love reading.

Picture books come in all lengths, difficulties and topics. I have included a variety of books in this project to ensure that every student finds something that they love.

The books in the project will be used in many ways. The texts can be used for whole class read alouds. The texts may also be used as mentor texts in a lesson. Lastly, students will have access to all of the books for their independent reading.
