it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Did you ever feel alone while being surrounded by your peers. Where you ever bullied as a child and didn't know where to seek help?? I don't want any student to feel that I way. I want everyone to be safe from bullies.
My students live in South Central Los Angeles.
They attended a title one school where 98% of the students qualify for free federally funded lunches. They come from hard working families that trust the public school system to educate their children and keep them safe. They live in an economically disadvantaged neighborhood. Most children only have the bare essentials for survival: a roof over their head and food. For the most part many cannot afford school supplies and books.
My students always amaze me. They come to school ready to learn and face challenges with smiles and courage. They work hard and want to achieve academically. Most of my students are English Language Learners who were only introduced to English when they started school.
My Project
My students need five copies of "Bullying In Schools" to learn strategies to stop bullying. They also need these books to learn where bullying may happen. I want all my students to know that bullying on the internet is real and that it needs to be reported and dealt with appropriately and immediately. I want them to know where to seek for help and why it is so important to do so. In addition I am asking for " Lucy and the Bully" a very charming story that depicts a classroom bully and how important it is to seek help. It will also help my students understand why someone may bully. Furthermore I am asking for a collection of books that will be taken out each morning for students to sit around and read before school start. They will be asked to read in a large group preventing students from being scattered on the yard and making it hard for students to be victims of bullies.
Please help bring some peace to our schoolyard before school each morning.
We need Bullying in Schools to ensure that all students are armed with the strategies needed to deal with bullying appropriately. We also need literature to institute a buddy reading system before school. Providing a safe place for students to enjoy reading will keep help keep students out of trouble and far from bullies.
