This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have been teaching middle school physical education for 10 years now. And my students have become in love with the new game of pickleball. My students love the game of pickleball and request to actively play it year after year. And nothing makes me happier than seeing them eager to learn and trying new activities.
Pickleball is an excellent addition to our gym class curriculum because it's a sport that combines physical activity and making it accessible and engaging for all students.
Ultimately, learning pickleball in gym class provides a fun and inclusive way for you to stay active, develop key motor skills, and build a foundation for a sport you can enjoy for a lifetime.
My students are eager to learn and play more, but, simply over time our racquets and nets have diminished. Leaving us with sharing racquets or using a make shift net with cones which isn't essential for gameplay. After Covid, the importance of physical activity and relationships has been a priority to adolescents and their futures and we hope to continue that here at our school.
