My Students
Everyday we meet on the rug as a whole group 7 or 8 times. It is an essential spot in our classroom. My students deserve a spot to call their own while they are there. It is a busy classroom full of 5 and 6 year olds that are are excited to learn.
I work at a low income school where I encounter many students with all sorts of backgrounds.
The majority have free or reduced lunch and rely on the school for breakfast and a snack during the day. Despite it all they are wonderful children who have minds like sponges. They want to learn, they want to have fun, and mostly, they want to be loved. Despite the budget cuts I will continue to get things for my room that my students will enjoy and benefit from. They deserve all of it.
My Project
Our saying "pick your place and keep your space" for 25 kindergarten children their "one" spot moves from here, to there, to behind the easel, and ending up across the room all within the first 5 minutes. By adding a colorful alphabet rug to my classroom my students would always have a letter to sit on which would eliminate those problems. "Come find a letter to sit on" would have a whole new fun meaning. Their bodies would have enough room. They will be comfortable and ready to learn.
This carpet will be used for many years to come.
It will make our whole-group time more enjoyable and more comfortable. My learners will be able to concentrate on me with fewer distractions. Your donations will make a huge difference in my classroom.
