Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As part of our ¿Qué se celebra? unit on holidays and traditions in Spanish-speaking countries, students will explore the cultural significance of piñatas, a colorful and iconic part of celebrations in Mexico and Latin America.

To bring this tradition to life, students will participate in a hands-on piñata-making project that combines language learning with cultural exploration.

While creating their own piñatas, students will use Spanish vocabulary related to colors, materials, and instructions, and practice listening and speaking skills by following and giving directions in Spanish.

This engaging activity promotes collaboration, creativity, and a deeper appreciation for cultural traditions. By connecting classroom learning to real-world practices, students gain valuable insight into Hispanic cultures while building communication skills in a fun and meaningful way.
