My Students
I remember learning to play the piano when I was in 1st Grade.
My students are eager to learn to play the piano also.
However, many of them will never have the opportunity for private lessons. I teach at a K-5 Elementary School in Middle, GA. We are a Title 1 school. Most of our students are on Free or reduced lunch.
My Project
Currently we have 5 keyboards available for class. To use them we have 2-3 students on each keyboard. Our classes range in size from 18 to 30+. We need additional keyboards and adapters to allow more children to participate. Our goal is to have enough for all students to participate in a keyboard lab. We start children as young as Kindergarten on the piano keyboard.
By providing these keyboards, adapters, & stickers more children will be able to participate at a time.
These keyboards will make music available to students that do not have this opportunity at home. They also put us closer to reaching our goal of having 10 - 14 keyboards available for our students.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
