I need assistance with covering the costs of traveling to attend the Innovations in School-based physical therapy practice course 2019 in St. Louis, Missouri. The most expensive item on this trip is the actual conference.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a school-based physical therapist who provides school-based physical therapy services to students with special needs in between the ages of 3-21 in the Chicago area.
I work with students who present with various medical diagnoses who require school-based physical therapy services to access their school environment.
Each student may have an Individualized Education Plan or 504 Plan to allow them to receive the appropriate accommodations and modifications in their school setting.
This is my first year working for Chicago Public Schools as a school-based physical therapist and would like to seek opportunities to continue to improve my practice as a school-based physical therapist.
My Project
The Innovations to School-based Physical Therapy Practice Course is intended for physical therapists who provide, or intend to provide, related services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. This is an amazing opportunity to be able to dive deeper into how I can become a more knowledgeable school-based physical therapist. The course highlights advanced practice issues, in addition to foundational information.
I have completed one year of working with Chicago Public Schools and have enjoyed providing school-based physical therapy services to students of varying ages.
My goal is to continue learning how I can be the best version of a school-based physical therapist. Attending this conference will allow me to continue learning more about this area, network with other healthcare professionals, and challenge me to think beyond what I already know.
