Physical Fitness Fun with Bocce

My Students

My amazing middle school students are smart, creative, spontaneous, and full of a love of learning! They come to school each day with lots of questions about the world around them. Whether working on math problems or conducting science experiments, my students love to learn by doing.

Our school serves many military families from the nearby Air Force base, a Navy EOD school, and an Army Special Forces cantonment.

We are in a unique area to have military families from so many different branches of service. Because of the challenges of military life, my students are resilient and hard-working.

My Project

Our PE classes desperately need some new equipment that will provide new and interesting physical activities to get our students up and active. They need some structured group sports that will build their physical stamina and increase their love for physical fitness.

Bocce, also known as lawn bowling, is unusual and intriguing physical fitness game that will make our students want to stay active.

Although bocce is one of the oldest and most widely played games in the world, it's not a game that our students typically have played before. Similar to horseshoes, bocce takes both strategy and skill. Bocce improves coordination, flexibility, ball control, and accuracy. This new sport will give our students motivation to be physically active as they try something new.

Playing bocce will be a great way for our students to learn hand-eye coordination, agility, and sportsmanship. outdoor games will give our students quality time with their peers and to be fit while having fun.
