I am constantly trying to modify my activities in Physical Education to include all students. With these items from this project, I can safely and positively include students of all skill levels. Our weight room/fitness center has a variety of different workout stations.
Some of our students lack the coordination to participate fully and some lack the physical strength to lift weights, but with this project they can safely feel included.
The heavy bag stand will allow for students in PE to get a cardio workout without having to worry about balance on an elliptical or treadmill machine, while students with lower body strength will be able to push or hit the bag to increase muscular strength in their upper body. In addition to Physical Education class, some of our more emotional students may need a break in which they can go and push or hit the heavy bag. The stand will make this a great, safe, piece of equipment in our weight room/fitness center.
The oversized badminton racquets will be used by our students who struggle with coordination or vision impairment. The larger head and shorter handle will allow them to play with their peers and be more successful in practice and games.
