Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 4th and 5th graders full of energy, and most of all eager to learn. Our school is an inner city school with 98% of the population qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. These kids come to school excited and ready to give it their all. Many are English learners working hard to reach their English goals to reclassify and be proficient in English with little support at home.

My students enjoy spending time at school many times because school is the one places they feel safe and taken care of.

They come ready to tackle any academic challenge they come across. It is a great experience as a teacher to see how they take ownership of their learning throughout the year.

My Project

Outdoor play is important so children can enjoy the natural environment and be able to exercise. We need footballs, jump ropes, and bean bags in order to be able to go outside and enjoy some fresh air and exercise while having fun.

In school, children spend so much time indoors making sure they are prepared for the academic demands of today's schools, but we tend to forget that physical activity is just as important.

With the PE equipment I'm requesting I can take my class outdoors and help kids stay active. With the bean bags and the jump ropes my students will surely enjoy being outdoors. The playground balls and hoops will definitely get their heart rates up and get them to work together in teams.

Obesity and hypertension in kids becoming more common because our kids spend less time playing outside. Twenty minutes of physical play will help us keep healthy. We need PE equipment to get our heart rate up and overall help us with our academics as well.
