This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Atoms are the basic unit of everything around us. When they combine, they create thousands of substances, many of which we use in our daily lives. Since chemistry can be little abstract, molecular models are used to visualize atoms and molecules.
The great thing about Happy Atoms is that it has a free app that can be used to scan the physical model and turn it into a digital model.
The digital model can then be manipulated on a device (android, iOS, kindle) to further investigate the properties of the substance. The app provides basic information of the molecule as well as physical and chemical properties of the substance.
Happy Atoms provides an enhanced experience for students because they can visualize molecular models physically and digitally. Since models cannot be taken home, they can use the digital versions of the model to continue learning from home. The additional information provided in the app extends learning in the classroom and at home.
