it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a wonderful group of amazing children who have many goals and aspirations. Many of my students struggle with the barriers of poverty, language acquisition, special needs and parents working very long hours; however, these factors serve as motivation to push my students to be better and more focus with their efforts. My classroom is special because the students I teach are so engaged and willing to learn that they push me to be the best teacher that I can be for them.
My Project
Physical and mental health are essential attributes to teaching. As I move into my 16th year of teaching, I want to make sure I am staying healthy to continue teaching for many more years. I want to gain more awareness of my everyday movements, as well as developing mindfulness for both myself and my students.
I want to set an example for my students.
Oftentimes, I find myself telling my students to breathe, be thoughtful, and have more self awareness, but what does that truly mean? I want to put into practice what I am asking my students to do. In order to do so, I need to develop these practices for myself. I want to have interacted with the actions that I want my students to practice. The watch, and books will allow me the opportunity to further myself both physically and mentally to continue being the best I can be in the classroom.
