Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are sweet, helpful, and full of energy! 100% of our students come from low income homes and are on free breakfast and lunch. I teach in a Title I school. 70 percent of my students are hispanic, 30 Percent are black/white. Out of the class 50% of the students are fluent in Spanish.
My pre-k students all have different learning styles and each learn at their own pace.
I strive to provide my students with a positive first year of school so that they may enjoy learning and become successful in their educational career.
My Project
Pre-K students are always willing to try and persist at new activities. We need equipment that will help develop fundamental movement skills such as throwing, kicking, catching and skipping.
Physical activities in Pre-kindergarten needs to be both spontaneous (child initiated) and planned (Teacher led) that can be done indoors or outdoors.
Providing my students with sports equipment they can use daily will not only develop their gross and fine motor skills. It will also increase school readiness skills, develop social and emotional skills, reduce depression and anxiety, increase their learning capacity, build strength, self-confidence, concentration, and coordination.
Integrating physical activity into my students’ lives is essential for creating a foundation of movement and activity that they will carry with them throughout the rest of their lives. My students will physically, mentally, socially and emotionally develop by participating in physical activities.
