This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Part of the chemistry curriculum is on compounds and students would usually learn the rules for naming and writing their chemical formulas. Students need more than just learning the names and chemical formulas of compounds.
The study of compounds will be more meaningful and relevant to the students if they are able to apply or use these compounds in real-world problems.
By doing a water testing lab, the students will have the opportunity to test for the presence of compounds such as nitrates, nitrites, phosphates, and even pH for the presence of acids. This opportunity will make their learning interesting and will surely increase their interest in studying chemistry.
