My Students

Students need the opportunity to do science by conducting laboratory experiments. Majority of students learn the concepts in science better if they can look, touch and examine it rather than listening or reading about it. The materials in this activity will help the students' understanding.

The students in my class come from an inner city environment.

Many of them do not get a chance to see or interact with living things in nature. The most important thing for many of these students is making science fun and interesting by doing science rather than listening about science.

My Project

In this series of activities students will explore photosynthesis. Many of the concepts in photosynthesis are difficult for the students to understand. The series of experiments will not only help them understand photosynthesis but also respiration. These experiments will allow the students to conduct experiments and analyze the results and conclusions about photosynthesis and respiration.

Students need a better understanding of science.

We have a shortage of people pursuing science degrees at the collegiate level. If we make science interesting we might get many of the students excited about science. Having hands-on experiments for the students to do is our best chance for getting the students excited about science.
