This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students have come a long way since fully returning to school last year. We still have a ways to go academically but we are gettng there through hard work and high expectations. One aspect of high school that is so powerful is the socio-emotional component. Our students are not allowed to have a their cellphones during the day which promotes communication, learning and community building.
We are asking for two instant cameras to record 1) classroom activities like project-based learning, 2) memorialize our time during school trips (like to the Met and the Jewish Heritage Museum), and 3) so students can make collages of their friends to decorate the classroom and bring home.
We are also requesting the posterboard to create your photo montages.
As teachers, we have learned so much about the importance of community-building and the importance of socio-emotional learning. This mini-grant is a brain child of my Honors Global History class. Your generosity will support all of the aforementioned and is just plain fun!
