Help me give my students daily videos and manipulatives that can be used for teaching phonemic and phonological awareness. My goal is to provide every student in my classroom with their own personal reading toolkit.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Every year, my new little learners are eager to begin learning how to read. These reading toolkits will contain a wide variety of manipulatives.
Some items in the kit will include colored chips, linking cubes, and finger lights.
Students will use these tools for hands-on learning. For example, when teaching the sounds for the world map, students would push out three chips to represent the three sounds they hear in the word. These items will help to make learning phonics fun and engaging. We will store our tool kits in the cart for easy access.
The daily videos guide students through a series of phonological activities in less than 10 minutes per day. I will use these videos as a warm-up each morning before we continue our phonics lessons.
