Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Tara West has created these wonderful phonics resources for teachers. They help us to provide strong phonics instruction which, in turn, teaches our students how to read. This year, my school made a change and implemented a strong phonics curriculum. My kids are making amazing growth, but the resources to help them practice their skills are lacking. I would love to be able to provide my students with additional resources like the ones included in this kit.
Being able to use manipulatives in reading allows students to have a hands on approach to learning to read.
I will use these resources to give my students opportunities to physically move around the sounds in words and manipulate letters/sounds to create words. By using manipulatives, they will move their learning from short term memory to long term memory.
I will also use these resources in small group. My students need explicit instruction on their level. At the moment, I am lacking resources to use at my back table to provide them the best opportunities that I know I can provide.
