My Students
Besides learning to read through direct phonics instruction, my students need phonics books to practice their reading skills.
My students attend a small school in the Sierra Nevada.
The student population that I served mostly come from low income families. They are eager and willing to learn to read. They are friendly, helpful, and caring. I am fortunate to work with such wonderful students.
My Project
They will use these books to improve their reading fluency and build up their confidence. Through daily practice, their decoding skills will get better and allow them to use their skills to decode more difficult words in their school textbooks and other literature books.
By improving their readings skills, they will become more successful in the classroom and be able to increase their self esteem.
They will also be able to begin exploring and reading different genres of interest.
