Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a kindergarten teacher in an urban community. My students are very diverse in their ethnic, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds. They are also very diverse in their educational experiences. Many of my students have never been to school before.
The one thing they all have in common is their eagerness to learn!
Every day my students come to school with a smile on their face. With all the challenges they face both in and out of school they come ready to learn and "do work they are proud of!"
My Project
I am requesting magnetic write and wipe boards and letter tiles. These materials will allow for students to use manipulatives to decode and sound out words. The whiteboards will help with letter formation and spacing.
These materials are so important because they will build my students' confidence as they build and write words.
My students will also have an opportunity to learn different skills to help with reading and writing including letter formation, letter/sound recognition, sight word and word pattern practice. These activities will make an impact on all my students as they progress through kindergarten and the stages of reading.
