Help me give my students nonfiction phonics readers and phonics games to build their reading skills, boost their confidence, and make learning both engaging and fun.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My first-grade students are curious, enthusiastic, and full of potential. They approach each day with a sense of wonder and an eagerness to learn, especially when it comes to exploring new stories and discovering how words come together. Watching their confidence grow as they master new skills is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching them. Each child brings their own unique strengths and perspectives to the classroom, creating a vibrant and supportive learning environment.
The nonfiction phonics readers and phonics games I’m requesting will provide my students with engaging, hands-on ways to build their foundational reading skills.
The nonfiction readers will allow them to explore real-world topics while practicing essential phonics patterns, blending sounds, and decoding new words. Meanwhile, the phonics games will make learning interactive and fun, helping my students to retain these skills while fostering teamwork and a love for reading. These resources will help bridge the gap for students who need extra practice and provide enrichment for those ready to move ahead.
My goal for this project is to help every student become a confident, independent reader. By incorporating these materials into our daily learning, I aim to nurture their literacy skills while inspiring a lifelong love for reading and learning. What makes my students special is their resilience and determination—they rise to challenges with enthusiasm and cheer each other on along the way. With these tools, I hope to give them the support and opportunities they deserve to reach their fullest potential.
