This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The items in this project are engaging, hands on materials that will allow my students to increase their phonics knowledge and become better readers. The pocket chart with letter & picture cards is an excellent resource for direct instruction of word reading during small groups. The materials are compact and easily manipulated as well, so I can easily take the kit with me to the various classrooms I provide intervention services in.
The phonics activity centers, dominoes, and stamps will allow my students to independently apply their phonics knowledge in a fun and exciting way.
The kids will enjoy working together to build words that they can then read independently. The variety of modalities for applying their new skills will keep them engaged and interested in learning.
All of these phonics materials are directly linked to the foundational reading standards I teach every day. They will be used mostly in the primary grade levels, but because I am an interventionist, I also have students at the intermediate grade level that can benefit from them.
