My Students

My Pre-K students come from very diverse backgrounds. They are considered high-risk learners due to their socio-econmonic lifestyles. Many of my students live in single parent households or are being raised by their grandparents. These types of home challenges qualify them for my program.

My school is a located in inner city Detroit on a block that is surrounded by abandoned homes and vacant lots.

Despite the location, my school has been recognized as a high performing school by the State of Michigan. My colleagues and I continue to put our students first no matter the challenges facing our school district.

My Project

The Computer Area is a favorite in my class. We have four computers for the class to share. The play on educational websites and really enjoy watching the videos. This can sometimes be hard for them to do with headphones that don't work properly. The headphones we currently have are cheaply made and only one ear works.

In addition to the headphones not working properly, very often the students get the cords for the mice tangled with the chairs.

The mice freeze occasionally and this frustrates the students as they play the learning games.

Wireless headphones and mice would help the Computer Area in my Preschool classroom run so much smoother!
