This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are not only the sweetest students in the world, but they are also the most eager to learn students I have had in my teaching career! My students along with many 1st grade students all over the US are learning to read and write during this year.

This year, I am teaching the 1st grade English side of our school's Dual Language Immersion program!

My school consists of a large population of English Language Learners that were born here in the U.S. as well as newcomers from different Spanish speaking countries all over the world. My students have the challenging task of learning a new language. And teaching them the English language is challenging as well but a very rewarding undertaking!

My students want to learn English and succeed in school. This year, my school system is putting four different, yet connecting and purposeful programs in place to help our young students to learn how to read and read with comprehension (LTRS, 95 Phonics, Heggerty, and Wonders). Oh My!!

Students learn best when they have access to a selection of multimodal learning activities. I am asking for materials that will help my students senses be stimulated auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learning.

I am asking for magnetic dry erase boards to use with magnetic chips and letters to help with phonemic awareness and phonics instruction. We will use these in coordination with lessons from our county's new programs to make learning exciting, individual, and interactive!
