My Students
Imagine not having a book to read to your child before they go to bed. This is a problem many of my students' families have.
There are 18 energetic three and four-year-old children in my class.
Our school includes students from pre-k through eighth grade. It is in a high poverty area, and about 95% of the students in the school qualify for free lunch. Our school is in a low-income neighborhood, where budget cuts have left no hope that materials will be purchased in the near future.
My Project
I am asking for individual copies of "Pete The Cat's Groovy Buttons" and "Pete the Cat Saves Christmas" for each of my students. These copies will be sent home with the students to encourage reading at home. Young children learn how to read when are read to often and when they love what is being read to them. Many of my students don't have any books in their home.
The character Pete the Cat is a favorite of my students.
His books are some of the most loved in our classroom library. By giving my students copies of these beloved books I hope to encourage their families to read to them.
