Our community is a blend of hardworking, rural farm families and people focused small town values. Our school and the community around us work diligently to ensure that students are reaching their educational goals and learning in a caring environment. We have over eight hundred students in our K-4 building. Our class sizes range from twenty to twenty-five students.
The learners in my classroom strive to blend joy and creativity into their personal learning.
They achieve this through technology-based learning, team building challenges, and knowing that the answers to problems is not as important as the process by which we solve them. We strive to help students determine their learning profile, discover a love for learning, and find joy in reading, math, and science.
My Project
Think about how you read, work, or engage with your family when you are at home. Are you sitting at a desk or are you sitting on the comfortable furniture, laid out on the floor, or relaxing in a comfy chair? The goal of this DonorsChoose.org project is to support a flexible learning space for my students. Over the last few years, their learning has become more personalized, and I would like our room to reflect the best learning environment for this style of learning.
One of the building blocks of personalizing learning is the philosophy of a welcoming, flexible learning space.
The items in this project will help create a comfortable space for learning. The floor desks will allow students to work around the room, while still writing in a journal or working on a Chromebook. The bean bag chair will provide a relaxing space for independent reading, and the ottomans will give students a comfortable seat to work on while they are at their desk. Students are craving flexible seating in classrooms, and this project is great opportunity to help students learn in a setting that is best for them.
