My Students

I work with sixth grade, science students. They ask lots of questions and are learning how to become successful middle school students. The school has a diverse population of approximately 1100 middle school students with 50% of our population receiving special education services.

The students have varying backgrounds and learning abilities, but they work as a team to learn and teach each other in the classroom.

Everyone is treated fairly and without prejudice. Each and every one of the students wants to succeed, as well as help their peers to do so as well.

My Project

As online learning this school starts virtually, I am looking for ways to provide students with meaningful and valuable feedback. A handwritten comment will be more meaningful than a typed comment and I would like to be able to make a connection with my students through this method.

The iPad will allow me to write directly on student work, showing them a deeper investment in their work, on my part, and encourage them to keep putting forth their best effort.

In the classroom, students can hear our voices, see our faces and the care that comes with feedback. In a virtual world, this is much harder to do, especially with 125 students who need timely and meaningful feedback.
