This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a group of 22 lively 7 year olds. A lot of them are new to the country and are getting accustomed to a new home and school life. Our different backgrounds make us a unique classroom.
Our days are filled with stories and adventure.
They love to tell stories about their country and all the fun things they miss. This year I intend to use those wonderful stories to build a good writing foundation. Our main focus will be literacy since a lot of them are still learning how to read and write.
My Project
In a world where students are now required to wear masks, sit 6 feet apart and have little interaction with each other, I think it would be great to personalize all items in a fun way. Personalized materials will afford my students the opportunity to safely access and use all materials with their name without fear of coming in contact with other student’s materials. It will also give them ownership and allow for easy access since materials will be located in labeled bins. Personalized masks will also help students be more enthusiastic about wearing them all day.
