This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school prepares kindergarten through fifth grade students of Springfield for academic success and engaged citizenship through insistence on rigorous, challenging work. The school incorporates Dr. King’s commitment to the highest standards in scholarship, civic participation, and the ideal of the beloved community.
Our school is located in Springfield, MA which has a diverse population of students including General ed, English Language Learners, and Special Education students.
My Project
This year will be very different from years past. Due to Covid, our students will not be able to share pencils, art supplies, notebooks, or textbooks. This means that each student will need their own personal set of materials! Personal materials will help our students to stay 6 feet apart and stop the spread of germs. Our families and community have been hit hard with Covid related illnesses, job loss, and a recession. Helping purchase these supplies for our students would give our families and teachers one less thing to stress about. Every little bit helps a third grade student in need!
