My Students
Our school is in a town of less than twenty thousand and all of our students get free lunch. Our district has a great technology center where my kids have learned valuable skills in construction, auto tech, welding and more.
My students are great kids that happen to have learning difficulties.
As students with special needs, all of my kids have learning gaps. They all need individualized instruction to close the gap between where they are and where they need to be academically. Please help them continue to close their academic gaps so they will be ready for college and careers after graduation!
My Project
All of my students read multiple grade levels below their peers. With Reading Plus I can provide personalized intervention and instruction to develop their silent reading proficiency which will transform them into confident, lifelong readers. Reading Plus is an adaptive computer program that teaches struggling readers to process text more efficiently. Research shows that 70% of non-proficient readers process text inefficiently.
With the use of Reading Plus, students can gain 2.5 grade levels in reading with just 60 hours of instruction!
Inefficient reading is the hidden hurdle that prevents the development of fluency, comprehension, and motivation in struggling readers. Reading Plus will give me the tools to help ALL students master grade-level content. Each student will have access to grade-appropriate texts through an experience that has the same look and feel regardless of reading level. Reading Plus provides equity for all learners.
