My Students

A small space and high expectations provides us with opportunities to be creative when it comes to finding personal space and quiet for concentration and undisturbed independent study!

As refugees and immigrants new to the United States, my students come to me with a variety of educational experiences.

Some have attended school more than others. Most made it through the equivalent of elementary school, however, they are expected to quickly meet the same expectations as those of their grade level peers here in high school! This is not an easy task, but we are up for the challenge!

My Project

Because of the diversity of knowledge and differences in background experiences within my class, we utilize whole group, small group, and independent study. The partitions I am requesting can be used at both computer stations and work tables. They will provide an environment that deletes distraction and provides each child with their own personal space to study. The requested headphones are a necessity at our computer stations so that the work being done there does not interfere with other lessons going on throughout the room.

Cutting down on noise and other distractions will provide my students with quiet, personal spaces to focus on and complete independent study as they strive to catch up to and find success with their grade level expectations.
