This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a classroom teacher, I am surrounded by pre-teens that are not always aware of the basic hygiene needs. Many of my students come from a single parent home where their parent is working multiple jobs to make ends meet. With limited funds, there isn't extra money for basic hygiene needs.
For many of my students, they do not have money to purchase deodorant or lotion to help with their hygiene needs.
As pre-teens, it is such a necessity for them but many times can not afford these basic needs. Parents need to choose between food and hygiene products, always choosing food and limiting the hygiene products.
My students would benefit from having some basic hygiene products that would be available for them in the classroom.
