Help me give my students an in class mini library by supplying them with a book bin of their own to put their new diverse books in and be able to move it and take it with us.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students attend a Title I school that serves free breakfast and lunch and has a very diverse population. Most of our students do not have a library of books at home or have access to a public library in their neighborhood. The safest place for our students is in the classroom and with COVID-19 that was not the case for a lot of our students last year. Having a mobile library with bins just for them will provide them the personal library they are missing at home. Connecting the personal mobile library with high interest books as well as diverse books where they can see themselves in the stories is very important. This project will not only teach diversity and inclusion but also provide reading material that the students will want to read.
