This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are an urban high school that has a lack of necessary materials and resources for our students to thrive. Our neighborhood is high poverty and we are considered to be one of the most challenging schools in our area. We have serious attendance problems and many students who are not engaged in learning.

I have taught here for eighteen years and enjoy the creative spirit of my students.

Over the years, I have had the pleasure of seeing my students discover talents they never knew they had. I strive to expose them to as many diversified, artistic experiences as I can.

In our present situation of teaching with a hybrid model, all of my students are working with an art program on their laptops. This is challenging for everyone and has changed our way of learning.

My Project

We have been fortunate to have been funded through Donors Choose grants to be able to provide our young ladies with daily and monthly hygiene products. The girls can get their supplies and refills at school whenever they are needed.

The girls need a discreet way to carry their daily and monthly hygiene products such as a small pouch which they can keep in their backpacks.

This will provide the girls with a container to keep their products in and to put their refills. Having access to these products will keep the girls prepared and make the day more comfortable.
