Perform in Style! Costumes for an Annual Dance Concert
Help me give my students the opportunity to perform in professional costumes. They need skirts for African Diaspora Dance Performances- From West Africa to the Americas.

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Everybody Clap Your Hands!" Students begin class with a social dance to build community before choreographing their own work. The students learn dances from around the world, including West African, Salsa, the Waltz and Bollywood. Through dancing, students learn about themselves and the world.
My students are international, English language learners from over 30 different countries.
Our school is in a large city with 100% of students qualifying for free and reduced lunch. Dance company students are adapting to life in a major U.S. city, learning everything from public transportation to how to apply to college, while also learning English. Dance provides them with a physical outlet and form of artistic expression, while also encouraging them to be agents of change!
My Project
Students have been working tirelessly on choreographing original dances in the techniques and styles they learned throughout the year. Specifically, they have been exploring how dances migrated and developed through the African Diaspora. They learned dances including Djole from Guinea, Capoeira from Brazil and Bachata from the Dominican Republic.
This project will help students take their dance making to the next level by dressing them in professional costumes.
Students worked collaboratively to make new dances and they need new costumes to fit their choreography. These affordable costumes will have a huge difference on the production value of their annual dance concert.
