This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Literary Engagement: "Save Me a Seat" is a compelling novel that addresses themes of friendship, diversity, and overcoming challenges. By providing each student with a copy, they can engage deeply with the text, fostering comprehension and critical thinking.
Cultural Understanding: The book explores cultural differences and the immigrant experience, offering a valuable opportunity for students to broaden their understanding of diversity and empathy.
Language Development: Reading literature helps improve vocabulary, reading fluency, and language skills, which are essential for overall academic success.
My students come from various cultures and socio-economic backgrounds, this will provide a rich tapestry of experiences and perspectives. They are eager to learn and engage with meaningful literature that reflects their lives and the world around them.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
