Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a Pre-K bilingual teacher at an Equity Focus School, I believe our youngest learners have the power to lead meaningful change. This student-led project will empower my bilingual students to become “Planet Protectors” by launching a school-wide environmental awareness campaign—in both English and Spanish!

Our class will explore how recycling, saving water, and reducing waste help protect the Earth.

Then, students will take action by designing bilingual posters, recording short videos, and creating digital messages to promote sustainability. These will be shared across the school—on bulletin boards, in hallways, and during morning announcements.

With the help of an iPad, students will document their efforts through photos and videos as they clean up campus and promote green habits. They’ll use it to collaborate on digital presentations and express their creativity while developing language and technology skills.

This project goes beyond the classroom. Students will share their messages with families and the broader community—encouraging sustainable practices at home and inspiring others to care for our environment. We plan to host a “Green Day” where students can showcase their work and invite families to join our mission.

Aligned with the Protect the Environment goal of the Allstate Foundation’s Service Stars initiative, this project will help our little learners grow into confident, compassionate leaders who take pride in making a difference—at school, at home, and in the world around them.
